Dabeeru C. Rao (b. 1946) received his bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. (1971) in statistical genetics from the Indian Statistical Institute in Calcutta. He was post-doctoral fellow, 1971-1972, at the Department of Probability and Statistics, University of Sheffield, England. From 1971-1979, he was assistant and associate geneticist (professor) at the Population Genetics Laboratory at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu.
